In the United States, laws are made to address a perceived problem.
Megan’s law was introduced when a convicted sex offender murdered a young girl and the parents argued they should have known about this man.
Adam Walsh was murdered by someone who was not on a registry and yet the push to make harsher laws regarding sex offenders came from that crime.
We have a way of taking a potentially good idea and making it into a monster. With the large numbers of people on sex offender registries, any value of it becomes dimished Situations change over time.
We need to stop thinking that everything bad can be prevented and start being loving and compassionate today.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring!
